       Gardens represent the wonders of nature. Many days of hard work in the spring erupt into an explosion of color and beauty in the summer. Sunflowers, zinnias and other flowers create a sanctuary for the bees and birds. The flowers will attract exotic small birds that you normally do not see to your garden and reward you with their beautiful song. Do not forget to plant some catnip for the cats to enjoy.

             Here is an update of the Calico Cat and his Bird Buddy sculpture. Their Best Friends Forever relationship has added an extra 3 members as our feathered friend’s eggs have finally hatched. Here we see the mother bird providing food for her babies while the calico cat continues to provide protection and support for his growing family.

      Introducing another one of my friends of the summer months, my Pegasus wood sculpture. In Greek mythology, Pegasus was commanded by Zeus, king of gods, to bring thunder and lightning from Olympus. In my summertime environment he streaks across my garden as quickly as the summer months streak across my calendar. Pegasus would certainly win the Triple Crown of racing if winged divine stallions could enter the Kentucky Derby.

For Rand Paul, Clothes Make The Man

          Senator Rand Paul recently gave a major TV speech without wearing any pants while blasting the unemployed as being lazy. When questioned about his lack of pants, Paul responded “the pants must have been with my other suit”.

          Introducing the merman, a wood sculpture citizen of my summertime mythology. He is shown on the sea floor in his underwater environment. In Greek lore, the merman is considered a powerful figure but in my experience he often gets lost underwater and refuses to ask for directions.

      Certainly one of the most colorful denizens of my summer Shangri-la is my friend the Parrot Sculpture. Perched on a branch surveying his domain, the parrot sits underneath a wreath that holds a mirror. On top of the wreath sits the parrot’s trusty friend, the chameleon, who is overwhelmed by the rainbow of colors that he has to imitate.

          It would be difficult to find 2 better friends than this charming calico cat and his bird buddy wood sculpture. It is summer and the bird is busy hatching its egg while his best friend forever calico cat is more than happy to provide the shelter and protection necessary to help his feathered friend. The top of this sculpture opens to reveal that this calico cat consumes fish so there is no reason for his bird buddy to be concerned.
